Where has my Club gone?
You still fully own your Footium Club, the functionality and official club has just moved from Ethereum Mainnet to our Layer 2 scaling solution Arbitrum One. This means that we have changed the metadata & paused the contract of the Ethereum mainnet club which is what you will now see on OpenSea and other marketplaces, and your actual club is on Arbitrum One. With the contract being paused, trading & transferring will now not be possible on the Ethereum mainnet contract.
This is to allow Footium Club owners to play the game of Footium with minimal gas fees with Arbitrum.
No we have not rugged!
We can confirm that Footium HAS NOT RUGGED! We have transitioned your clubs to the Arbitrum network which is what you you will now use to access Footium and changed the metadata on the Ethereum mainnet clubs to reflect this. Think of this transition like upgrading your car: While your Footium Club remains the same, much like your car does, moving to Arbitrum is similar to replacing the old engine with a newer, more efficient one. It's still your beloved vehicle, but now it runs smoother and faster, just as your club will now operate more efficiently on the new network.
What is Arbitrum?
Arbitrum is a Layer 2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain that enhances its capacity and efficiency by processing transactions off the main Ethereum chain, resulting in faster transactions and lower fees.
What is a Layer 2?
A Layer 2 is a technology added onto an existing blockchain system, like adding an express lane to a busy road. It handles transactions separately and more quickly, reducing congestion and speeding up the process. Think of it as a way to make blockchain transactions faster and cheaper without changing the main road (the original blockchain). In our case that express lane is Arbitrum which is built on top of Ethereum!
Why are we moving to a Layer 2?
We're moving to a Layer 2 solution in this case, Arbitrum, to make our game faster and more affordable. Arbitrum speeds up transactions and reduces fees, all while still using the secure and established Ethereum blockchain. This shift makes our game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
What if I don’t have a wallet on Arbitrum?
All Ethereum wallets (bar gnosis safes and other smart contract wallets) have an Arbitrum wallet by default, you just need to add the network as is outlined below!
How to get Arbitrum on my Wallet?
Getting Arbitrum on your MetaMask wallet couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is:
Follow the video guide below if you need some more support
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JrjxcGuo6s
Note: If you have a Coinbase wallet, Arbitrum will automatically be on there which you can check in the settings. If it isn’t please follow the guide below the video.
This process will be similar for other wallet providers if you do not use MetaMask - If you are having issues with adding Arbitrum One to your wallet please get in touch with us on Discord and we will help!
Why is it Arbitrum One & what is the difference between that and Arbitrum Nova?
Arbitrum One is designed for general use, providing a scalable and cost-effective solution for running Ethereum-compatible smart contracts. On the other hand, Arbitrum Nova is designed for applications that require a higher transaction throughput and don't require the full decentralization that rollups provide. For Footium, Arbitrum One slots into our starting XI perfectly due to us not having a high amount of transactions to play the game!
How do I access the game with Arbitrum?
You access the game with Arbitrum in almost exactly the same way as you have done on Playtests & to the Club Explorer - you connect with your wallet as usual, the only difference is that you need to be on the Arbitrum network (or Arbitrum Sepolia testnet for future playtests)!
Do we need to use Arbitrum token or ETH to play Footium?
You do not need to use the Arbitrum token ($ARB, is the native governance token for the Arbitrum blockchain) to interact with Footium, however, you will need Ethereum on Arbitrum to do any in-game transactions like player transfers and academy minting.
Why do I need to move my Ethereum to Arbitrum to use it?
When you move your Ethereum to Arbitrum, it's still Ethereum but now operates on the Arbitrum network. This is necessary because although Arbitrum is built on top of Ethereum, it functions as a distinct layer with its own environment. This move allows you to use your Ethereum more efficiently in the Arbitrum ecosystem, such as in Footium, benefiting from faster and cheaper transactions.
How do I move ETH in my wallet to Arbitrum and vice versa?
If you already have some Ethereum in your wallet you can easily bridge it to Arbitrum by heading here: https://app.rhino.fi/bridge
Rhino.fi are our official bridging partner and will appear within the official links section within our Discord & on our website. It is the easiest way to switch your funds between Ethereum Mainnet and Arbitrum One if they are already on your wallet.
Other bridges are available - please be extremely careful when bridging! Feel free to ask in the Footium Discord if you need help.
If you need further support on this please watch the video below:
How can I buy ETH straight into Arbitrum One?
If you want to buy some Ethereum and send it straight to the Arbitrum section of your wallet, you can do so easily with exchanges!
For more support, please watch the video below
https://youtube.com/shorts/8hQVnFieef0
Alternatively, you can also use fiat on ramps that offer Arbitrum ETH such as Ramp. This means you can buy Arbitrum ETH directly with your bank account/credit card & it will send it to the wallet of your choice! Note: There are higher fees with this method sometimes
How do I withdraw ETH from the Arbitrum network to an exchange?
If you want to withdraw your Ethereum from the Arbitrum network you just need to do the opposite to the steps above!
If you need more support, please watch the video below
How do I use my ledger with Arbitrum?
To use your Ledger on Arbitrum, all you need to do is make sure you are on the Ethereum Application within your Ledger as normal when you are connected alongside being on the Arbitrum network on your actual wallet (e.g MetaMask) and it will work perfectly! Ledger's hardware devices and Ledger Live app offer a secure way to store and manage crypto assets offline.
Why can’t I access the game when my wallet is connected?
You might be on the wrong network, please switch to the Arbitrum network in the top left of your wallet, similar to what you will have done with Goerli in previous playtests.
Does Harpie support Arbitrum?
Our safety partner Harpie does not currently support Arbitrum. We will update everyone when this support happens!
